Panasonic New Zealand is pleased to invite your school to enter
the 2011 Kid Witness News (KWN) short film competition!
Overview
KWN is a hands-on film education programme created to encourage Primary and Secondary School students to develop their cognitive, communication and organizational skills through the use of Panasonic’s latest HD Video and DVD technology.
Students are invited to create and develop an idea for a short documentary fi lm based on one of two themes.Either Theme 1: Communication’or Theme 2:’The Environment’. The entries are to be submitted on ‘storyboards’ provided by Panasonic. The top 5 storyboards in the country will then be selected. Those 5 schools will be awarded with the latest Panasonic camera equipment in order to develop their idea into a 5 minute DVD. The 5 schools will also be provided with coaching and assistance from an industry professional. Schools that are not selected can still submit their video entry using their own equipment.
Reasons for your school to participate
- The top overall film winners will be awarded an overseas trip for two students • tudents and one teacher to the KWN Asia/Oceania regional awards
- KWN is designed to be fl exible enough to fit into your curriculum. You will be free to implement the competition into your regular classing schedules; however there are some competition rules/guidelines that must be adhered to.
- Prizes will be awarded to top primary and secondary schools that participate.
Key Dates
- Storyboard submissions close 3rd August 2011
- Winning storyboard schools are notifi ed by 10th August 2011
- Video entry submissions close 1st November 2011
- Video entry winners announced 2nd week of November 2011
The overall winner will be selected by the beginning of November and will be given the opportunity to compete in the Global 2011 KWN competition. This involves members of the winning team travelling to a destination (yet to be confirmed) and meeting all the other regional winners. The last three years have been held in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand!
